Your daily bread is grown right here

Hovis have launched a major advertising campaign extolling the fact that all their bread is now made from one hundred percent British grown wheat.

Here at Offley Hoo we grow this very special Canadian red wheat for Hovis. Five years of trials have gone into the launch of this new range of bread.

Hovis asked all their growers to send them footage of the 2009 harvest, they even sent us a camera to do it with. Making the film was a team effort right in the busiest time of harvest with Jon driving the truck behind the combine and Victoria hanging out of the vehicle to get the vital shots and undoubtedly a face full of wheat dust. This scene was replicated over a lot of farms to make this interesting and very educational video.

Our CLAAS combine with the signage Pilkington Farms OFFLEY HOO can be seen at approximately 16 seconds into the film. The footage from 16 - 20 seconds was all filmed here with Richard, one of our two tractor drivers, driving the combine. Another snapshot of our machines can be seen at around 23 - 24 seconds.

This year we are growing even more hectares of this wheat for Hovis, and we very much like the idea of knowing what happens to the crops we grow. It fits very well with our direct selling of meat and the importance of helping consumers understand how and where their food is produced.
